Personnel are usually armed with automatic rifles, sniper rifles, and handguns and wear ballistic vests and ballistic helmets.

Federal air marshals are an elite group of federal agents who are employed by the Department of Homeland Security. Armed air marshals operate undercover on domestic and international flights, conducting investigations, and gather intelligence to prevent terrorist attacks against America’s airlines.
